RLJ Coaching: Coaching

Coaching with me isn’t for everyone.  I don’t have an agenda for you other than the one you have for yourself.  I will be diligent in providing support, encouragement, and an open space for you to discover what you need to discover.

My approach is a thought-provoking, and sometimes uncomfortable, process of inward discovery and outward execution.  I will also hold your feet to the fire when you need it - I will stand right there with you in every battle, victory and moment of quiet.  And you will fly.  You will go farther than you thought possible.

Personal and professional Development

Leveraging what you already know; trusting your intuition; deepening your curiosity; and releasing your imagination.  By exploring your values, strengths, passion, fears, and limiting beliefs, our coaching will facilitate increased self-awareness, belief in your self-worth and tangible movement towards what you really want.

“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” – e.e. cuumings

“Being confident and believing in your own self-worth is necessary to achieving your potential.”

- Sheryl Sandberg

Communication/Negotiation

The purpose of communication is to understand.  To be able to understand someone else one must first understand themselves.  Here we look at the dynamics in communication and identify the unconscious motivators and reactions in communication.  It also practices building curiosity and asking question for information and for insight into the underlying interests of others (and self).  We also look at “what you want to have happen” in challenging situations in order to prepare for difficult conversations.

“If you want to interact with me effectively, to influence me, you first need to understand me”.

- Stephen Covey

“This single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”  - George Bernard Shaw

Leader Development

Who are you as a leader?  What characteristics do you want to embody?  We will clearly identify your “inner leader and their characteristics” and practice making decisions and taking action from that place.  Here we also work closely with values, encourage authenticity, call forth your strengths and build confidence in trusting yourself and decisions as well as being able to sit with and learn from things that didn’t go quite as you hoped.

“As a leader, it’s a major responsibility on your shoulders to practice the behavior you want others to follow”.  - Himanshu Bhatia, Founder and CEO, Rose International Inc.

“Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence”. - Harvard Business School

Innovation and Team Work

Knowing who you are, what you are about and how far you want to go and being able to stand in the strength of that opens the door for innovation.  The heart of innovation requires risk and letting go.  We look at tangible pieces of information needed/required to learn what is really going on in you, your company and industry.  From here we look at ways to invite, engage and empower your team to find solutions and being able to let go and engage the exponential power of team.  It requires truth and risk.

“Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change”.  Brene Brown

“Remember teamwork begins by building trust.  And the only way to do that is to overcome our need for invulnerability.”  Patrick Lencioni
